The mainstay of the Traditional Pub Games group is likely to be Cribbage (subject to demand), for which many of our dwindling number of pubs have a team for inter-pub matches in an organised league.

Cribbage is a card game for 2 or 4 which is neither whist nor rummy based. Although baffling to watch, it is quite easy to learn and beginners can expect to be playing by the end of a single session. Sneaky tactics and strategies may take a little longer to perfect but newcomers should be “zero to hero” within an hour.

Some other games we will be looking at include Dominoes (Fives and Threes), Napoleon, Solo, Crash, Chase the Lady and possibly Shove Ha’Penny.
