Droitwich Spa and District

Who What Where

Think you know Droitwich Spa? From Chateau Impney to the north, Copcut to the south, Water Tower to the east and Westlands/Westwood Park to the west.  We will be running a quarterly competition and every 14 days we will publish a photograph on our Facebook site (within the definition above). Your challenge is to work out where the photograph was taken and/or what or who it represents. Every participant with a correct answer earns a point. All photos are taken by the members of our Digital Photography Group.

Digital Photography - Droitwich Spa and District

1. How the competition works

  • Every 14 days a new mystery photograph is posted on the Droitwich Spa u3a Facebook site.
  • Each photograph will have a closing date and time. Entries received after the closing time will not count.
  • Entrants should give their answer by commenting on the competition post, unless the post gives different instructions. Only the first ten right answers win, strictly by timestamp.
  • The answer may be a specific location, building, object, landmark, event, statue, person or other feature represented by the photograph.

2. Scoring

  • Every person (member of u3a and/or non-member of u3a*) who gives a correct answer receives 1 point for that photograph.
  • Where more than one person gives a correct answer, each of you earns 1 point.
  • The limit to the number of winners for each correct individual photograph is 10.
  • The competition organisers will keep a running record of points throughout the quarter.

3. Winners for each photograph

  • A few days after the entry period closes, the correct answer will be revealed and the names of everyone who gave a correct answer will be published on Facebook.
  • The points awarded will be added to the quarter's running total.
  • A new mystery photograph will then be posted for the next 14-day round.

4. Quarterly winner

  • At the end of each quarter, the person with the highest total number of correct points will be the overall competition winner.
  • The winner will receive a photo frame containing a winning competition photograph, taken by one of the members of the Digital Photography Group.

5. If there is a tie

  • If two or more people finish the quarter with the same highest score, the winner will be decided by a simple draw.
  • The names of the tied entrants will be written on separate pieces of paper and placed in a hat (or similar container). A Facebook administrator will blindly select one piece of paper. The name selected will be the quarterly winner.

6. A few important points

  • Please make your answer as specific as you can. If the photograph represents a particular place or feature, identify it rather than simply naming Droitwich Spa.
  • Only answers submitted before the closing time will be considered.
  • The organisers' decision on whether an answer is correct will be final.
  • By entering, participants agree that their name may be published as a winner of an individual round and/or the quarterly competition.
  • The competition is intended to be a fun way of discovering or rediscovering the places, buildings, details and history of Droitwich Spa.

Look closely  •  Think locally  •  Make your guess  •  Collect your points!
Have fun and let's see who really knows Droitwich!
