Libraries Unlocked (2022–present): In June 2022, the library joined Worcestershire’s Libraries Unlocked scheme, giving members extended access from 8am–8pm, six days a week, even without staff present. Opening hours rose by 85%, and over half of local users signed up in the first year.
Impact: The scheme boosted visits, book loans, and computer use. It’s especially valued by working people, parents, and groups using the space for events and community activities.
Refurbishment & Co-location: Before this, the library was refurbished to house multiple services under one roof, including Job Centre Plus, Citizens’ Advice, and the Registration Service.
Feedback: Reception has been positive overall, though there’s been debate about rolling the model out to other libraries.
